I stumbled across the wonderful world of Zentangle one serendipitous day in June 2013, and it was love at first sight. I was immediately captivated by the simplicity of tangle patterns and complex beauty of completed art pieces, and knew I had to begin learning this creative process myself.

Eager to get started, I ordered the Zentangle kit along with a selection of books and supplies, pored over and other related web sites, and watched several instructional videos, then got down to the business of learning to tangle. Right from the time I first put pen to paper I was hooked, and never looked back!

I wrote about my tangling journey in "For the love of tangling," a blog post on Alphabet Salad, and continue to share both my practice work and finished pieces in my online portfolio Ten Thousand Tangles and Tangled Tuesday blog posts on Alphabet Salad. I invite you to visit and take a look for yourself.

A long-time blogger, I decided to participate in the worldwide "Blogging from A to Z Challenge" during the month of April 2014. Inspired by my love of Zentangle, I chose "Tangling from A to Z" as my theme for the month. My daily challenge posts highlighted the process of learning three new-to-me tangle patterns each day and then incorporating them into a finished piece, and were in most cases my readers' very first introduction to Zentangle.

At some point during that month I realized just how much I wanted to continue sharing my enthusiasm and passion for Zentangle even after the blogging challenge was over, and knew that in order to do so I would have to take the next logical step. It was time to put my dream of becoming a Certified Zentangle Teacher into action.

It took me awhile to get there, but I'm thrilled to say that I made it to Providence, Rhode Island in June 2016 (exactly three years after first discovering the joy of Zentangle!) to complete my training with Rick, Maria, and the rest of the Zentangle team at Seminar 25. (If you'd like to read a bit about my experience, I shared some of my reflections on the seminar in this Alphabet Salad blog post.)

I'm so excited about my future as a CZT, and look forward to many opportunities to share Zentangle with the people in my local community and beyond!
